Caterham School

About

Caterham School was named “Independent School of the Year 2023” by the Times Education Supplement. We are a UK-leading co-educational day and boarding school, and our top academic results are testament to the uniquely supportive community and inspiring teaching that is Caterham’s hallmark. Our pupils progress to top UK and global universities, including Oxbridge, Russell Group and G5 universities, in addition to securing sought after professional degree apprenticeships. In 2022, 85 per cent of our Upper Sixth leavers secured their first-choice university and course, including eight pupils who secured their place at medical school. In 2023, 12 pupils received offers from Oxford or Cambridge Universities, bringing the total offers from the world-leading universities across the last 5 years to 61.

Caterham is a global academic innovator ensuring our young people are prepared with skills to thrive in a rapidly changing world alongside their first-class academic education. Through our unique EDGE curriculum, Caterhamians leave school with a skill set which includes entrepreneurial, digital and problem-solving skills alongside the top grades that open doors of opportunity for them. Caterham is recognised as an EdTech 50 and an Apple Distinguished School.

One of Caterham’s particular qualities is the friendly supportive community which is founded on pupil wellbeing – the most important aspect of our school. We were the first UK school to have our pastoral care and wellbeing audited by the National Children’s Bureau and awarded the Wellbeing Award for Schools.

Our stunning 200-acre countryside campus is just 18 miles from central London with easy access to London Heathrow and Gatwick airports. Our extensive school grounds include our own woodland, high ropes course and outdoor learning centre. A focus on sustainability and the environment is woven into everyday life at the school whether as part of our woodland restoration project or our pupil and staff beekeeping team.
