"A traditional yet forward-thinking co-ed school, boasting incredible modern facilities and a tight-knit community within the school"
About
Oundle School is one of Britain’s leading co-educational independent schools, located in the charming market town of Oundle, Northamptonshire. Less than an hour from London by train, the School enjoys a picturesque setting in the heart of the English countryside. Oundle is closely connected to the town, with pupils actively participating in the wider community rather than being isolated from it.
Oundle has long been associated with the very best of modern independent boarding education. Full boarding is central to the School’s identity, fostering strong friendships and a sense of continuity throughout the week, including weekends. Each House serves as a home for both pupils and staff, creating a relaxed, supportive environment where everyone can truly be themselves. Meals are shared together in a family-style setting, reinforcing the sense of community.
Around twenty-five percent of Oundelians are welcomed from 30+ countries across the world, with the rest of the pupil body coming from all corners of the UK, resulting in a rich and diverse community with an international outlook. The majority of boarders join at 13+ but there is also a strong intake at 11+, which gives younger boarders the perfect opportunity to springboard into School life.
Oundle is often described as highly academic but it is no hot house. Pupils are intellectually curious, energetic and resourceful: they are able young people who love school and genuinely love learning. Nevertheless, the School’s academic results are steadfastly excellent. In the most recent examinations, Oundelians achieved 28% A* 66% A*A and 88% A*-B at A Level. At GCSE, 53% of grades were 9, 74% 9/8 and 90% 9-6. On average 10% of Oundelians gain Oxbridge offers and most pupils take up Russell Group university places, with increasing numbers looking across the world for the best higher education institutions with a more global approach.
The School’s extensive co-curricular programme promotes creativity, service and leadership. Sport is thriving, with facilities that support both elite athletes and those seeking lifelong fitness. The arts are equally prominent, with numerous performances at the Stahl Theatre and over half of the pupils learning musical instruments. Oundle’s partnership with the Royal College of Music enhances its music programme with workshops and concerts.
Oundle nurtures individuals who are curious, open-minded and independent, equipping them with the qualification, skills, values and attitudes that will guide them through life.
