"An academically selective girls day and boarding school in Surrey known affectionately as St Cat’s that focuses on roundedness, with an active and extensive alumnae network"
About
You want your daughter to achieve academically, but you want her to be intelligent in more ways – to be confident socially, to have a strong moral compass, to shape the world around her. At St Catherine’s we support your daughter in building the intellect and character that will help her develop as a bright, confident and vibrant individual. At the heart of this is developing a sense of self-belief, that she can achieve whatever she is driven do to in life.
Situated within the Surrey Hills, close to Guildford, and just 45 minutes from Gatwick and Heathrow, our community is made up of boarders of 24 different nationalities, girls from London and girls from the local Surrey area. St Catherine’s has been educating girls since 1885. We are experts in the education of girls and fully understand the importance of focusing, not just on their academic lives, but also on building their confidence, challenging them to take risks and offering opportunities to lead. Each aspect of teaching and learning and every initiative whether academic, extracurricular or pastoral, is tailored to meet the needs of girls.
Girls benefit from the very best teaching, in a happy environment with exceptional on‐site facilities. Our curriculum is designed to ensure breadth and variety. Our impressive academic results and Destinations of Leavers list is testament to the excellent outcomes at A Level, allowing girls to go out into the world as confident young women.
We believe that values reinforced through a partnership between school and home build character. ‘Soft skills’ such as teamwork and leadership, develop confidence and are highly sought‐after attributes in every walk of life. And kindness to others – always, above all.
The very successful School House system ensures tutors know every girl and that parents always have a point of contact. The six senior Houses offer the girls opportunities for leadership and responsibility; invaluable when it comes to university applications and employment.
Girls have so many opportunities to find their own interests and personal strengths – be it in sport, drama, art, chess, debating, equestrianism, business enterprise, charity fundraising or the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. Musicians benefit from the Anniversary Halls’ impressive acoustics and full orchestra pit. Our Dance School offers classes in ballet, jazz, tap and modern and our Sportswomen enjoy over 9 hectares onsite for competitive and friendly games.
