Malvern College

For more than 160 years, Malvern College has combined a heritage with a pioneering spirit. Set within 250 acres beneath the Malvern Hills, it is a minded community where academic curiosity, character and adventure go hand-in-hand.

Alongside it’s Prep School, The Downs Malvern, Malvern College offers an education that develops the whole person, nurturing confidence alongside emotional intelligence, cultural awareness, resilience and independence. Around 75% of pupils at Malvern College board across 11 Houses, creating a community and a home away from home.

Innovation remains central to the Malvern experience. The College was an early adopter of the International Baccalaureate and continues to offer a breadth of academic, sporting, creative and outdoor opportunities, including an All-Steinway music school.

New for 2027, the Malvern Global Academy combines flexible, technology-enabled study with the full Malvern experience. Pupils study A levels or GCSEs at their own pace, supported by a dedicated Learning Coach to structure their academic programme around significant commitments, whether elite sport, music, entrepreneurship or other pursuits, while remaining fully part of House life, pastoral care and the wider school community. It is not a standard online programme: pupils are based on campus, and the flexibility is in how and when they study, not in their connection to Malvern itself.

The second addition to Malvern College and The Downs Malvern for 2027 is the Chelsea Football Club Development Programme. This elite programme reflects a connection between the two institutions that runs deeper than most partnerships: the Mears family, who founded and ran Chelsea FC from its earliest days until the 1980s, were themselves educated at Malvern. That history now takes a new direction, with Chelsea FC coaching methods, performance analysis and specialist support built into the school day for talented young footballers, who continue to represent Malvern College or The Downs Malvern in school fixtures throughout.
